Scope

Design, fabrication, galvanisation and installation of various access platforms, stairs and handrails

Description

Structural Fabrications Ltd was commissioned to carry out the design, fabrication, galvanisation and installation of various access platforms, stairs and handrails to CE class 2 as standard. Unless noted, the platforms included handrails with kick plates and open mesh flooring.

The project team delivered the following:

 
-Low Level Pumping Station Y – 6500mm x 5400mm access platform and stairs

 

-Low Level Pumping Station Z – 4775mm x 3615mm access platform with stairs to lower 3250mm x 1550mm platform and stairs to ground slab

 

-Clean Backwash Tank Handrail – 59 metres of 1100mm high double row handrail with kick plate, fixed to existing concrete slab

 

-Backwash Pump Access – 9000mm x 3100mm x 1400mm high access platform with two new stairs to tank and one new stair to ground slab

 

-East & West RGF Access Stairs and Platform – two new 4485mm high access stairs and landings. 7100mm x 4100mm platform anchored to concrete chamber

 

-North and South Gallery Access – four new access platforms complete with stairs and ladders.

 

-MCC Support Steelwork and Flooring

 

– Steelwork and columns with 6mm chequer plate flooring anchored to existing concrete chamber to support electrical cabinets

 

-Chamber size 16m x 8m x 1.71m deep

To support these works Structural Fabrications provided full 3D modelling, shared within a common data environment and clash checked against works by other trades to ensure a good fit and to eliminate the need for re-work on site.
